Worked to Develop More Equitable Education Environments and Foster Thriving STEM Identities for ALL
Selected by NSF to lead REVISE, the new Informal STEM Learning (ISL) Equity Resource Center.- Wrote the Engineering for Equity eBook that explores the intersection of engineering education, family learning, early childhood, and equity.
- Published STEM Workforce Stories for adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing to generate career awareness.
- Hosted the successful 2022 STEM for ALL Video Showcase: Access, Inclusion, and Equity with over 280 project videos.
- Developed an evolving set of resources designed to support teachers and educators in thinking about issues of equity, access, identity, and agency in the elementary mathematics classroom.
Increased Influence in STEM Education Outside the Classroom with Newly Funded Projects
AAMASE: Young women of color will have the opportunity to learn and use STEM and entrepreneurship skills in makerspaces.- AMPD4Math: The Cesar Chavez Foundation and TERC are working with youth and afterschool leaders to co-design projects that draw on students’ desire to help others while growing positive identities as mathematics learners.
Informed on the Best Practices & Research in STEM Education
Published 19 journals, book chapters, and articles that delved into TERC staff's work that's advancing STEM education. - Hands On! put out two magazines that gave you a first-hand look at our innovative research projects.
- The TERC blog offered you an in depth look at the people of TERC and the work they’re so passionate about.
- Mia Ong, Senior Research Scientist at TERC served on the TEAM-UP task force which is now part of the White House's major initiative on STEMM equity.
Advanced Professional Development (PD) and Adult Education
Received NSF funding for ExIST, a teacher PD model that supports middle school biology teachers to adapt curriculum by integrating game design.- Partnered with BW Walch to further help adults build a conceptual understanding of math by making the EMPower curriculum an online experience.
- Selected to be Massachusetts' adult education professional development provider for mathematics and adult numeracy for an additional 5 years.

Looking Forward to 2023
- We are excited to be the stewards of REVISE and build upon CAISE’s work to enhance access and equity-centered practices in STEM learning. You can continue to visit informalscience.org to see the work this team will be doing to cultivate lasting change in ISL and broaden the STEM education ecosystem.
- Starting in June 2023, we will host 8 students in the Summer TERC Scholars Program: STEM Education Research through a Social Justice Lens, an NSF-funded REU.
- Look for new equity-related resources from the Investigations Center, in time for school year 2023-24.
